Ok, I'll bite.

What makes the HP3000/MPE combo soooo "impressive & reliable"?

Is it the HP3000 hardware?
Is it MPE?
Is it Image?

Does a HP3000 machine running UNIX have the same "impressive & reliable
track record"?
Does a HP3000/MPE combo running against an Oracle RDBMS have the same
"impressive & reliable track record"?

Where are the objective statistics/benchmarks that prove such an "impressive
& reliable track record"?

How does the HP3000/MPE/Image combo actually compare with other server
combos used in the same or similar circumstances?  E.g. high volume data
processing, harsh physical environments (mining), etc.

What is the TOC (Total Cost of Ownership) of a HP3000/MPE/Image combo
compared with alternatives?

	I can speak a little bit to the last option you mentioned.
There is an organization called OpenMPE which is setup as a co-op
(member owned).  Right now there are no membership dues and pretty much
any end user or vendor that participates in the  OpenMPE discussion
group and activities is considered part of the community.  The OpenMPE
Board of Directors has been working with the vendor community to
coordinate "virtual" groups that would be interested in taking over
specific aspects of the support and/or development of MPE (including
Image and the various HP sub-systems).  The OpenMPE BoD had conducted
surveys of end users to determine the desires of the community.  It has
been working closely with HP to turn these desires into reality.  HP had
a reasonably impressive list of announcements and accomplishments that
they presented at the OpenMPE session of HP World, including the early
stages of enabling companies to create a PA-RISC emulator to eventually
replace the HP hardware currently used to run MPE.  One company,
Software Resources International (RSI), has already announced to the
OpenMPE community their intentions of moving forward with the research
into the emulator.  Another company, Allegro, has expressed strong
interest and desire to do the same.

By now there would be quite a few companies have migrated away from
HP3000. It would be interested to know what sort of percentage or number
have migrate to a particular platform such as HP9000, PowerhouseWeb,
.NET etc.

How many companies have decided to do nothing and continue to depend on
the HP3000 impressive & reliable track record ?

What is the possibility of another company taking over the support and
development
of HP3000 beyond 2006 ?
