Theoretical question

Leonard and John,
I agree with John on this.
We run on an IBM AS/400. While the platform is not dead (!), Cognos'
development for it ended several years ago (with Y2K version, 6.07F, which
we're on). They continue to support us anytime we have questions. There
are a couple of bugs we've found that have been noted; other than that, it's
very "stable".
Of course, we don't have the 2027 limitation :-)
Thanks.

Lots of assumptions :-) Let's make a few more ...
Let's also assume on Jan 1 2007 you're still using a "real" HP3000 (i.e. a
box and version of MPE that you acquired from HP or some other authorized
channel) and not some software emulation of the HP3000 environment running
on some flavour of white box server.
Let's also assume that you're using a reasonably recent version of
PowerHouse -- say 8.x9.
Let's also assumes that there won't be a PowerHouse 9.x9 -- i.e. there may
be a version 9 on other platforms but it seems unlikely that Cognos would
invest in making an HP3000 version.
Then I have to ask, what's to support? Both hardware and software will have
been running together for several years and should continue to run just fine
for about 20 more years. I think it will all come undone in 2027, but that's
another story.
Regards,
JWP
