Slow performens

G'day Anders

I think you have to investigate and identify further where the bottle-neck
is.

Are the two machines on the same LAN?
What is the connection bandwidth and speed of the connection?
Is any other software on the unix box accessing the Oracle DB and does it
show worse, same or better performance?
Is this a hardware or software issue?
If software then is it the LAN software, OS or ODBC?
If none of the above are use utilising embedded SQL in your code?
Can the PowerHouse code be optimised?

If you approach the problem methodically and objectively I'm sure the
problem and solution will become obvious to you. I personally have only
dealt with using things the other way round where PH was on NT and the DB on
UNIX (or VMS or MVS).

Good luck,
Blue

Subject: Slow performens

Running a PowerHouse application on an AIX-server against an
ORACLE database on a NT-server, seems to give a slow performens.

The reason for this setup is that the ORACLE database itself
runs faster on the NT server.

Is there anything i can do without changing my code to (Cursor access).
e.g. on the ORACLE client side or in the PowerHouse setup.

Regards
Anders Birkmose
