Leonard;

Why not DEFINE an item to equal the substring in A. Wouldn't that work?

Subject: Comparing a substring to a substring

(Powerhouse 8.19C on the HP3000)

I need to determine whether a substring in data item A exists as a
substring in data item B. I am familiar with:

IF 0 < INDEX (data item B, substring)

Thanks.
