Is PH dead?

I have been programming in PowerHouse from before it was Powerhouse. I have
enjoyed almost all of it! However you're right we all need to gain
additional skills to market to market ourselves. I've been working a lot
with ORACLE and the Cognos BI toolset. It seems like a good combination
with a steady stream of work.

I've also written millions of lines of COBOL and I'll bet at the turn of the
next millennium there will still be adds for COBOL programmers!

And THAT is the last nail for PH systems. Sure there are still PH systems
out there, but you watch.... in time (few years) they will be forced to go
the Visual way, to cater for these newer more mobile technologies. That is
the fact of life. People don't have time to wade through training courses,
manuals, Reflections (ugh!) and other text based off shoots. People want to
press a button and see the end result. PH, COBOL, etc just cannot do that.
