C-ISAM Support > 2GB

I would like to have a couple of words with the C-ISAM 'engine'/library over the 2GB file size limit.  
Since Informix C-ISAM 7.25 and HP-UX supports files > 2GB the question that remains is 
"Where is the Powerhouse C-ISAM engine situated?"

Does it use a shared library (.so) or is the C-ISAM functionality compiled into Powerhouse?

Can, for academic purposes, the Powerhouse application server on HP-UX access 
>2GB C-ISAM files on a database server that intrinsically supports >2GB files?

Is the problem with Powerhouse 823D7 that it only support Informix C-ISAM 7.24 or 
with the way it addresses the file system.  
Similarly, does it support >2GB C-ISAM files on any other operating systems?

Is there any commitment to support >2GB files in the near future?  How about a patch?
