At the risk of stating the obvious, if all your defined item names began
"D-..." and all your
temp names began "T-..." the problem wouldn't have arisen.
It all makes work for the maintenance programmer, though...

differently than plain old 'signonuser'. 'signonuser' all by itself goes
right back to the Unix logon user, whereas I just wanted to pick up an
environment variable.
