Hi Jon,
=20
Have you tried moving some of the work from QTP to the database by =
using
SQL? If your QTP is fairly simple, you can often replace your several =
lines
of QTP code with a single SQL statement. Otherwise, if you're doing
something more advanced such as control-break processing, you could =
move the
sort to the database by replacing the input phase of each request by an =
SQL
cursor using an ORDER BY clause. This should reduce or even remove the =
need
for a scratch file in QTP, and so may get you past your problem.
=20
Best regards,

Hi Jon,
=20
there is no way around this limitation using the Unix platform. It is =
hoped
that the 8.4 release will be able to handle larger file sizes, but this =
is
not due out for some time, and may not contain the new feature.
=20
The only solution I am aware of in similar situations, is where PH has =
been
available on other platforms such as Mpe/ix or Openvms, and those =
servers
have been used to process a portable subfile and the resulting subfile =
(
which is now less than 2 Gig and pre-sorted ) ported back to the Unix
platform for processing.

We have a problem with qtp terminating with the following =
error-message:=20

Error on scratch file.

=20

Action Taken: Run terminated.=20

We have 16 GB free disk space for scratch files, but the problem seems =
to
occur when the file reaches 2 GB size..=20
Is this a known limitation in qtp?=20
If so, are there any configurable parameters in PH where this can be
changed?=20

We are running PH 8.23.D4 on HP-UX and Oracle8i.=20
