Why not upgrade to 8.3 and use the formatnum function? Makes life a lot
easier.

My suggestion works just fine for positive values but falls apart with
negative numbers. So I'll go with Mr. Edis' original suggestion when the
numbers can be negative.

Maybe I should test be I post :-)
