The only change in the FlexLM should be the logicals used (license file and
location), and the fact that 8.xx uses node name locked FlexLM licenses,
whereas 7.10 does not. (This requires a different build of the executables
with different switches turned on.) Other than that they use the same
version of FlexLM (5.12).

Chris - do you use checksums in 7.10 - storing them in your data files?
There is a known problem in that 7.10 and 8.xx CHECKSUM produces different
values.  This is being addressed in 8.30D.

Finally got my CD, thanks.
It's apparently supported only up to VMS 7.1, which itself ceased to be
supported by standard Compaq support way back in July 2000.

I'm running Alpha VMS 7.3 - I presume it's expected to run there ?
Anyone got any actual experience of it ?

I see there's some licensing changes too (FlexLm) - again, is it better,
worse, or about the same ?

I can't find any information on the Cognos supported customers' knowledge
base. Are there any major issues I should know about ?

I haven't actually loaded it yet, just read through the documentation.

It all looks OK, although the change to time format is going to cause us a
lot of work. We make extensive use of date/time, and do a lot of reporting
based on specific times of day, and midday today (which used to be
20020201.5 up to 7.10G) is now 20020201.1200 (in most cases).
