Powerhouse 7.10/8.30 VMS upgrade (survey results - sort of)

Compaq didn't exactly "give" it away, they were paid.
Some may say too little, but they didn't want to enrich
the lawyers any further, so it was the path of least
resistance. There's been Alpha technology in Merced
from the beginning. For that matter, there's Alpha technology
in the Pentium.

I didn't say there was explicit x86 code, but that there's
a migration path. My understanding is that's why it's so hard
to get it working, considering DEC, Sun, HP, and others have
had 64 bit for awhile.
