Error adding elements to dictionary

Hi,
This was an interesting problem that has not occurred before, ive always
wondered what problems caused people to upgrade from 710g1 to 710g4 etc, may
this was one?
The first thing we tried was creating fdls and doing a convert which made no
difference, since the message was a duplicate key im guessing that there was
not any rms corruption just some records we didnt want.
We then tried creating a pdl from the dictionary and loading that in as a
new dictionary hoping that would clear it out, this didnt remove the problem
either.
Interestingly the pdl we generated had some errors in it when we tried to
load it the first time. Some single + double quotes in value
captions/descriptions/help etc got muddled up. The "gen all" also gave us 6
digit dates back with "noforcecentury" on them and that generated errors too
when we tried to load it.
If the phdmaint and recover hadnt fixed it then we would have restored the
dictionary from the previous nights backup and possibly reloaded that as
pdl.
Our entire development enviroment is backed up every night, so thats our
normal fallback if nothing else works.

Just back from holiday.
Yes, as everyone's said, it's likely dictionary corruption.
Recover with PH tools, or RMS CONVERT.
We had some bad experiences right back when we started using PH (610E), and
instituted a nightly batch job to generate PDL every night, and keep it for
posterity (we store it in a CMS library). We still do, although we've never
needed it.
It seems to me to be a sensible piece of paranoia to keep source somewhere
as a guard against dictionary loss/corruption - with the pow phd tool there
is no original source.
