QTP error

QTP is not used much here.

One of our programmers is using QTP to load a dataset from a subfile. The
data set is linked to an automatic master. The process fails immediately
with the message:

Cannot find record with this key/index value.

Since the error message displays the Linkitem, I used it to add a record in
QUERY, and this was successful.

What are we not seeing here.
