null values / AS400

How is your PHD set up to handle nulls?  I usually set it to replace nulls
with a blank or zero depending on the data type.

No politics today just work (darn!).

I'm trying to load null values into a field.  I thought I remembered
doing it once on an HP
to the tune of [ DEF fieldname CHAR*nn = "" ].  The double quotes with
nothing in between
would do the trick.  I tried it on the 400 but when I test with
Matchpattern I looks as if I'm not
there.  Don't see it in the Quiz manual - can anyone help.
