null values / AS400

I don't think that the PowerHouse-OS/400 combination supports null values in
defined or temporary fields or in data dictionary fields.

Certainly, DEFINE fieldname CHAR*nn = "" or " " or '' or ' ' will all result
in blanks, not null.

Subject: null values / AS400

No politics today just work (darn!).

I'm trying to load null values into a field. I thought I remembered
doing it once on an HP
to the tune of [ DEF fieldname CHAR*nn = "" ]. The double quotes with
nothing in between
would do the trick. I tried it on the 400 but when I test with
Matchpattern I looks as if I'm not
there. Don't see it in the Quiz manual - can anyone help.

Thanks,
George
