The data may not fill that 80 characters but the field needs to be displayed as 80 characters wide. When I vi the file after the quiz has executed those records that do not fill the 80 characters are really not 80 characters wide. How do I go about creating a txt file that stays 80 characters wide? I could dump out a char at 81 and use a unix script to strip that character. Any other suggestions?
