Been there, done that - here's what we got from Cognos on it: (There is an
open bug.)
"There are two real instances that may be a problem for you when using the
debugger or the SAVE command. The code will parse just fine, and will only
show up as a problem in a SAVEd file, as with the Debugger source. The
first is a block that is all comments and any one or more ends with a
continuation
character (as with the testcase). There will only be a problem when the
block of comments is followed by a line that will not be put into the SAVE
file, such as USE, REVISE, SET, SAVE, GEN, BUILD (in instances where the
source one is replaced with DETAIL LIST code, a new BUILD is added at the
end). The second instance that I can think of is if a continued line has a
comment at the end of the line and the command being parsed is one of those
listed above. The parser will not keep track of the fact that the USE, for
example, spans multiple lines, so only the last line will be omitted from
the SAVE file, which will also likely throw the line numbers off with the
Debugger."

Subject: question on Debug
Has anybody experienced this problem in Debug? (HP-UX 11.0, PH813d3)
Screen is pretty basic, with a master table coming in, a primary, and some
designer tables.
When we try to step through debug on the screen, the display stops on
commented and blank lines, which we've never seen before.
Also, it appears as though the lines displayed are not the ones that are
actually being executed. Example, we see the edit procedure on field #1
display before we see the prompt for the field. But the edits for field #1
resolve as expected.
Appreciate any and all suggestions.
thanks
Madeleine D.
