G'day Roger
PH for the AS/400 doesn't have a screen driven interface to manage the PHD.
The PHD is kept as two separate files, myapp.pdl and myapp.pdc (replace
"myapp" with you dictionary name.)
The pdl file is a text source file of dictionary definitions. The pdc file
is a "compiled" version created from the pdl file and referenced by the PH
programs.
You will need to create the pdl file from your VMS version and then modify
via a text editor for the AS/400. You can use the GEN statement in QSHOW to
create the pdl file from the VMS dictionary. That is if the dictionaries
will be the same on both machines. Otherwise you'll need to create the pdl
file from scratch. Axiant can be a useful tool for this as at least there
is a graphical interface for managing the pdl file.
Have fun!
Regards,
Blue

Subject: PowerHouse Dictionary on AS/400
Good Day All,
We have been running PH on Alpha/OpenVMS for years, and are now considering
getting it for our AS/400. How does the dictionary work on the AS/400?
Specifically, what is involved with getting file difinitions into the PH
dictionary? Is it a manual data entry process, or is there some automatic
way to generate PDL?
Thanks!
