Hi Chris,
PH 8.30 for VMS is in beta as we speak and PH 8.39 for Mpe/iX has only just
been shipped.
The references to PH 8.49 on Mpe/iX refer only to what is being planned for
that release in the future, in the same way that there are plans for future
releases of PH on VMS to come after PH 8.30.

I wasn't confused. I thought the whole point of "common code stream" was to
make all the various 8.3(x for whatever) versions as near identical as
possible, and therefore one would expect released more or less together. But
here's discussion of 8.4(9 for mpe) & its ship date before we have a ship
date for 8.3(0 for vms). Is the vms release going to happen ?
Chris

It's certainly true that 8.30 has gone back from the dates mentioned at
Enterprise 2000 in the UK. What's happened Conrad? Is it something to do
with those badges & Concorde still being grounded?! Are there any dates yet?

First I've heard of 8.49.
Should we expect 8.30 for OpenVMS before it, after it, with it, or never ?
Us VMSers don't seem to have had much development for our maintenance
payments lately: since 7.10G & G1 three years ago (Fall '98), there's been
just minor fixes in G2 & G3 in '99, and the (unusable to most of us) 8.10
release (whenever). And still no suggestion when 8.30 might ship.

In current plans for the PowerHouse 4GL 8.49 for MPE/iX release, it is hoped
that it will be possible to include the ability to use PHD data dictionaries
(together with the POW application for maintaining them) as well as the
current PDC data dictionaries... giving MPE/iX customers the same choice
that OpenVMS customers will have as they upgrade to PowerHouse 4GL 8.30. PHD
with POW will allow for all of the functional aspects of Architect in terms
of dictionary management, less the reporting side.
However, as indicated earlier, it is thought that PHD will be
available in PowerHouse 4GL 8.49 which will be released in the timeframe,
December 2001 to February 2002.
