User conference canceled

Now that the agenda has been posted for the User Days
<http://www.cognos.com/userdays/agenda.html>, with not a single
PowerHouse-related topic on it, and no "ADT track" listed - is there any
point in any of us registering for this thing? We had people interested in
going to the sessions in two of the cities, but at this point I don't see
giving them the day off for no benefit.

Hello all. I will attach Ron Zambonini's message about the user conference.
Speaking only for ADT, we are also planning a series of Webex or InterWise
sessions for the ADT track presentors who wish to participate. Details will
follow when finalized. Thanks to all for your patience.

Ron's message:

Out of respect for the needs and concerns of our employees, customers and
partners, we are revising our approach to this year's North American User
Conference and replacing it with Enterprise 2001 User Days - a series of
free, one-day, regional events for customers and partners.

As of September 10, registrations for the Conference were well on track, in
fact, 30% ahead of last year. Since that time, many participants have
indicated their reluctance to travel in the wake of the tragic events that
took place on September 11 in the United States. In fact, some
organizations
have instituted travel policies that prevent our customers from attending.
Additionally, a survey we conducted on the matter confirmed this trend.

Consistent feedback from customers, however, is that they remain eager to
meet with us. Clearly, we must not bow down to the pressures of these
uncertain times. Business must go on.

For this reason, Cognos senior management will lead the User Days in seven
major cities across North America:

· Chicago, IL - October 23
· Edison, NJ - October 26
· Toronto, ON - October 30
· Atlanta, GA - November 1
· Boston, MA - November 6
· Los Angeles, CA - November 13
· Dallas, TX - November 15

These regional User Days enable us to get in front of even more customers
and partners - with updates on Cognos strategic direction, our new
integrated product suite Cognos Series 7, as well as other new initiatives
-
in a manner that best meets their needs at this time.

We will provide all involved personnel with further details over the coming
days and weeks. In the meantime, should you have any questions about this
matter, please do not hesitate to contact Jane Baird at ext. 3184 in
Ottawa.

Thank you for your continued efforts and understanding.

Ron

I just thought everyone would be interested to know that Cognos has
announced the cancellation of the North American user conference in Chicago
that was scheduled for the end of October. They will be doing a series of
one day "User Days" around the country instead.
