New Cognos ADT Demo CD Now Available

There was a lot of effort put in to the production of this CD -- especially
by Sue O'Doherty, our Axiant product manager, who spent many days recording
the Axiant and PowerHouse Web product demos to synchronize with the
pre-recorded narration. Thanks Sue!

Cognos is looking at many new training technologies -- including, obviously,
the Web -- where we have a number of pilot schemes underway for both live
instructor-led classes over the Web, and playback of previously recorded
live classes. This appears to be most suitable for sessions up to about 2
hours in duration.

DVD Video is another very promising technology that we are experimenting
with -- initially for internal technical training (for courses lasting from
one to five days), although I hope that we might be able to use the ADT
courses as a proving ground for making our public training courses available
using this technology. We believe that DVD is far more suitable than CD-ROM
or video tape due to its far greater capacity (at least 4.7GB per disc
compared to 650MB), extensive indexing capabilities, and ability to carry
far higher quality video...so you can actually read what is on the
instructor's PC screen.

These are early days with both of these technologies, but we have high
hopes. I'll certainly keep the list informed of any developments on this
front.

Great job Conrad!

I got my copy a few days ago and have already reviewed it.  It is good.
It's nice to see Ron Z. 'pushing' the ADT products for a change.

The demos on this CD are so good (only a few bugs) that it could almost be a
CBT!  In fact, why not continue this idea into such Conrad?  CBT CD-ROMs for
the ADT products would be a great ideas and you're half way there.
