Sounds like you should do a retrieval on FILEA in the PATH or POSTPATH
procedure and set your PATH value based on retrieval. I gather that you
prompt the user for the retrieval value.

Then modify the FIND procedure to do the retrieval you want. FILEA would be
a DESIGNER file and FILEB would be the PRIMARY with FILEC a SECONDARY.

I am having major difficulty in getting my head around a problem I have.

Temp T-POREQST Char*10

FILEA - KSAM - consists of only two fields, POREQST and PO
where POREQST is x(30) and a repeating key, whilst PO is x(10)

FILEB - IMAGE MASTER - contains many fields, two of which are POREQST and PO
where PO is x(10) and a repeating key, whilst POREQST is x(30)

FILEC - IMAGE - DETAIL - occurs 6 and contains many fields, one of which is
PO
where PO is x(10) and a repeating key

I need to perform a Find on FILEA via POREQST using T-POREQST, if the record
is found, then get FILEB via PO of FILEA and FILEC via PO of FILEA

If no record is found in FILEA, I want to sequentially read down FILEB,
selecting where POREQST of FILEB = T-POREQST, then get FILEC via PO using PO
of FILEB

In short, the KSAM file holds a daily xref of POREQST and PO, whereas the
IMAGE MASTER only allows sequential searches via the POREQST field. So, the
KSAM will allow keyed retrieval for all data prior to the next 'Update the
Ksam xref' job.

I hope I haven't created too much confusion, and that someone can shed some
light on my dilemma.

Of course, it may be straight forward......
