Hi Tracy,
here is an extract from the 'PowerHouse 4GL 8.39 Release Announcement' blue
letter
PowerHouse 4GL 8.39 is scheduled to be available for order from Inventory in
late June 2001 and is scheduled to be shipped to all supported customers
over the next several subsequent months.
PowerHouse 4GL 8.39C introduces the following enhancements for MPE/iX
customers:
· Support for TurboIMAGE B-Tree and OMNIDEX indexes in all screens,
reports and volume processing runs (QUICK, QUIZ and QTP).
· The introduction of the FORMATNUMBER function. This function takes a
number, formats it based on a format string, and returns a variable length
string.
· The introduction of the ITOP utility, similar to the old ITOQ
utility, to generate PDL data dictionary statements directly from existing
IMAGE databases.
· The ability to specify a string rather than just a single character
for the user prompt in all of the parser components (PDL, QDESIGN, QUIZ,
QTP, and QUTIL). For example, you can change the prompt for the next command
within QUIZ from ">" to "QUIZ>" or "QUIZ:".
· The introduction of the ERRORRECALL option in the QKGO runtime
parameter file, and on the FIELD statement within QDESIGN. This instructs
QUICK to automatically redisplay for correction any data that fails the edit
checks associated with the screen data field.
· The ability to direct QSHOW output to a disc file, with the SET
REPORT DEVICE DISC statement.
· The maximum QUIZ page number has been increased from -32767 to
+32767 to -2147483647 to 2147483647.
Customers not doing web development are strongly urged to upgrade to
PowerHouse 4GL 8.39 as development support (i.e. bug fixing) for all
versions of PowerHouse 4GL prior to 8.19 has already expired, and
development support for PowerHouse 4GL 8.19 will terminate on July 1, 2002.
Those customers developing web applications using PowerHouse Web 2.29D will
continue to require, and be fully supported on, PowerHouse 4GL 8.29D for one
year after the release of the next combined release of PowerHouse 4GL and
PowerHouse Web. If those customers also require the new PowerHouse 4GL 8.39
functionality for their terminal-based or Axiant thin-client applications,
then they can install PowerHouse 4GL 8.39 on the same system that has
PowerHouse 4GL 8.29 installed and use both versions simultaneously for their
different purposes. See section 5 for more information.
regards,
Joe Boyle.

Subject: Powerhouse 8.39C for MPE/iX Received
I got two boxes of "Cognos Application Development Tools"
today with "Cognos Powerhouse(R) for MPE/iX version 839C
firmly implanted on the sides.
One has a tape for Full Development and the other has
a tape for Run Time with Reporting.
Ooooh, I wonder what it does different than 8.19C ???
Guess I better open that New Features booklet.
