Null Oracle Error

According to Liz (sitting next to me), this message is caused when a value
is assigned to an Oracle item which exceeds the size of the Oracle item.

Is this coming from QTP, by any chance?

Has anyone experience with the following error or know what really means? 
It occurs during an UPDATE.

Data access error, (<TABLE_NAME>)
DMS-E-GENERAL, A general exception has occurred during operation 'execute'.
ORA-01480: trailing null missing from STR bind value
