The list & autoreplies

I'm looking to implement some sort of out-of-office autoreply mechanism (on
VMSmail). This means I'll probably be joining the ranks of those irritating
folk who auto-reply to every posting to this list - unless I can work out a way
to avoid it.
Other lists (via which I've never had auto-replies) appear to use a message
header "Precedence: bulk": is this the way to let auto-repliers know not to ?
Could this list do that ?
