I'm confused by the dictionary showing it as integer 4. That would be the
default datatype for a numeric element of 6 digits. However, a 4-byte
non-IEEE floating point number will hold a maximum of 6 significant digits.
That's the limitation of the datatype. You can probably force it to be
numeric 8, but the other two digits won't be accurate.

as numeric 6. My question is can a field this size be defined as numeric 8?
