I think you will have to do SHOW ELEMENT elementname for each element you
are interested in on the record. In the VMS environment the PHD is stored
in ISAM files and you can write a Quiz program to report on the metadata.
Short of this you will have to reply on the QSHOW comands.

On our system field names
are not descriptive enough.
