Just a wee clarification about Chris's note about 710G4 resolving Daemon
'hangs'.  In our research we found that the daemon wasn't really hanging,
the system was just out of DECNet resources and the daemon doesn't handle it
gracefully so would just return to the caller, thus appearing to hang.  The
710G4 'fix' has modified the message you get back to endeavour to notify you
that this may be the problem.  Customer Support and development have put
together a document to explain the potential resource issues and how to
resolve them.

I'm on 7.10g3, and it appears to work just fine (below) - please clarify.
Or do you mean a logical whose name contains "@" (symbol names can't in DCL)
?
That also works for me.

7.10g was unusable (& g1 I think); g2, g3 are OK; g4 claims to fix the
licence
daemon hangs, so I'll be moving to that when convenient.

It seems the norm that major PH releases are unusable, and it takes a minor
release or several to get stuff ironed out: 7.10e was a case in point; e4
was
the first usable iirc. It would be nice if Cognos confessed to the problems
as
soon as they hear about them (here and/or on the supported customers site),
rather than letting us all do the work of upgrading & discovering them 
independently.
