Compiled vs Uncompiled Quiz

We normally give our users 3 choices for running reports. They can run
them immediately from the Quick screen and wait, they can run them as a
batch job, or they can schedule them as a batch job at 5pm. Most of the
time people choose the back ground batch job so they can get back to
Quick. A few reports take a considerable long time to run. Also one
printer choice is to an area the PCs can see as a disk. We also use the
NOREPORT option on reports, for those rare cases nothing would be printed.
Paul Kemmer mentioned '"Compiled" is somewhat of a misnomer' and that the
compile time is minor. I agree. But something about compiling at run time
just bothers me a bit. Maybe it's those repetive wasted CPU cycles. Every
other development (non scripting) language I've used has required
compiling. Still, I can see some advantage to it.
