Access to PH' subfiles from Python?

Hello,

    I'm trying to access to Powerhouse' subfiles from Python on VMS
system. It's not difficult to access to data, but I'd like to access 
to metadata in subfile' dictionary (.sfd file). I'd wonder if somebody 
has already created such class. Or if I dream too much, could anybody 
point me to any description of content of .sfd file.
