Great idea, John. I attended the last two conferences, and am seriously
considering NOT going this year. Just not enough bang for the buck. Yeah,
we have a few Impromptu and PowerPlay licenses. And our users continually
knock PH and our antiquated MRP system (MAXCIM), and ask when we are going
to get better systems, but when offered the opportunity to learn new tools
like Impromptu or PowerPlay, they just won't make the leap. The only thing
we're using PowerPlay for right now is as a bridge between PH subfiles and
Excel. And I don't think anyone is using Impromptu on a regular basis.
I guess PH and MAXCIM are like old shoes...ugly, but comfortable! The thing
is, I actually like PH. The speed at which I can develope reliable
applications is fantastic. And until the company decides to spend some
serious money on a new ERP system, I think PowerHouse will remain the best
tool I have. And to think when I came here, PowerHouse was like the
illegitimate stepchild. None of the other programmers wanted to touch it.
Now, they all seem to be jealous because I can accomplish so much more with
so much less effort.
