Not fair John, I'm not even presenting a paper at this conference. (Did I
hear someone cheer out there?)
OK, there are five papers related to PowerHouse Web. However, two of those
are from customers who are actually using the product for real -- Idaho
State University (MPE/iX) and Pankaj Sharma, a consultant from Syntel
working at Detroit Edison (UNIX). A further two are from senior software
specialists in the Cognos US and UK services organizations. And the final
one is from Bob himself...the product manager. All of these papers are of a
very practical nature -- relating real-life experiences, tips, techniques
and approaches that anyone considering using PowerHouse Web will benefit
from greatly.
Another two papers relate to Axiant. The first is a very practical joint
paper from a customer and services partner (Boston Scientific Corporation
and Creative Computing respectively) reviewing their experiences of
migrating an existing PowerHouse 4GL application (MPE/iX, IMAGE, Reflection
terminal emulation) into an entirely new environment (Windows NT Server, MS
SQL Server and Axiant 4GL Client). The second Axiant paper is an
introduction to the new Axiant 4GL 3.0 release, from one of the software
engineers who actually worked on its development.
There are two more papers for the die-hard PowerHouse 4GL developers,
covering debugging in QTP and QUICK, and using SQL in QUIZ and QTP. Both
from Creative Computing -- one from their in-house project manager and the
other from one of their senior consultants.
Finally, Ed Shepherdson will start the whole thing rolling with an overview
of current development projects and an opportunity to ask questions of the
ADT management team present at the conference.
Full descriptions of all of these break-out sessions can, of course, be
found on the Cognos web site, at
http://www.cognos.com/enterprise2000/tracks_50x.html. And you can reach the
Enterprise 2000 home page at http://www.cognos.com/enterprise2000.
Hardly just "...marketing presentations for PH Web" :-)
Best regards,
Conrad

Too bad that's about all the ADT content for the conference.
