ODBC (for VMS)

The various ODBC providers (Easysoft, ConnX) seem to be fairly actively
marketing their products at present.

I believe Cognos used to recommend Easysoft, but when we looked at it, the
tool for exporting the PH dictionary was unusable, and configuration of the
product was difficult (we are an IT dept, & still had our Alpha on its knees
& needed several support calls to get the config right).

The product is still a CPU hog (worse than Powerhouse ;-), which may be a
config problem, poorly written queries, or a poor product. Whichever, we
don't feel we can hand it out to users at present.

What are peoples' experiences (of Easysoft, ConnX, or other) ?
What would they recommend ?
