Exit statement

G'day George
I am not familiar with either the AS/400 environment or JD Edwards menus.
Nevertheless, I suggest that the problem may be a funtion of the JD Edwards
menuing system. It might behave in a similar way to DOS windows in Win95/98
in that once the DOS program has terminated, the user still has to manual
close the DOS window. I believe in Windows this behaviour can be changed by
settings associated with the particular DOS program.
Does JD Edwards menuing system have the ability to set special attributes on
executing menu items?
Does OS/400 have something like a windows registry of attribute files to
associate behaviour attributes to program files?
Do non-PH and non-JD Edwards programs exit correctly from the JD Edwards
menus?
Does this program return you to the OS prompt upon exit when run directly?
(i.e. OS prompt>quiz auto=quizprog.qzs nolist etc.)
Good luck in finding a solution and I hope you publish whatever it is on
this list.
Regards,
Blue

Subject: Exit statement
Time to tap the vast knowledge pool.
I'm executing Quiz out of CL on the AS/400 (Am I flying a concorde?).
I'm running a Quiz program that prompts for a parameter that will be
written to
a disk file to be used in a subsequent QTP program. The CL program
program is
executed from a JD-Edwards menu and the Quiz program executes as it
should
allowing the user to enter the parameter value. At the end of the
program
however the user must press F3 (exit key) to get out of the Quiz program
even
though the program has an exit statement in it. How do I get around
this?
I'd like to get more information in general on batch processing on the
400 too.
So far it seems it's a bit cumbersome. How are you handling parameters?
I've
split it out so that I create a disk file that any subsequent PH
programs can
'Use'.
Some questions could be addressed to PH support but we don't have an
agreement -
it seems our rep has a hard time getting back us. Maybe PH support
isn't a big
money maker. I'm hoping that statement can beat the bushes a little.
Thanks,
George
