Date question

DECIMALTIME will return the difference between two dates in days and the
fraction of a day (if you're using datetime items). That's the most accurate
difference. Anything else (like number of months)depends on how you define a
month. Do you need the fraction of a month? Do you need to account for
months of different lengths? Etc. Are you after something more precise than
just 7 months as in your example? For instance
DECIMALTIME(20000601,19991130) gives 184. If you divide that by 30, you get
6.13 months.

G'day Anthony

According to my trusty PH handbook, the DECIMALTIME function will return the
interval between two dates. I have never used this function myself.

Subject: Date question

Hello to all,

I have a question about subtracting dates. For instance I have
date
20000601 and 19991130. I need to say that the second date is 7 months
less
than the first. I know that I can use the days function but I was
wondering
if there is a more precise way of doing this. Thank you for your help,
this
list has been very useful for me. I am using ver 8.19 on an HP3000
running
MPE/iX.
