That's exactly right: formfeed is ascii 12 (control-l). If you don't want it,
use NOFORMFEED, or PAGE LEN 0 (but be warned Quiz treats that as 10,000).

Use TAB 1 to put it in column 1. Default behaviour (with spacing 1) is column 2
as you've described.
