End of record carriage return

I am running Quiz on an HP3000.  I am creating a flat file and need to force 
a carriage return at the end of the record.  Currently if I report two fields:

field-1 char*6 = 'abcdef'
field-2 char*6 = 'ghi   '

The carriage return (represented by the CR) is immediately after the letter 
'i' in the flat file:

abcdefghiCR

I need the three trailing spaces (represented by the ^ below) in field-2 to 
be retained:

abcdefghi^^^CR

Does anyone know how to force trailing spaces in a flat file?
