February 29th

I didn't mention versions because while we "officially" tested each
production version at the time (7.33D, 7.10F, 7.29C, 6.07?) there were other
unofficial tests and various customer reports. There was enough information,
plus our knowledge of the code, to say that we expected these issues in any
version prior to the versions listed on our web site as being certified year
2000 compliant.

For example, 7.29C had the Feb 29, 2000 problem, but 7.29C8 does not (at
least in our tests and those of many of our customers). As you can see, it
depends on the specific version you're using.

Of course the best way to determine if there may be an issue is to run the
tests yourself.

     Bob,

You didn't mention which versions exactly you tested, but I'm assuming
that you (and Mark below) mean prior to 7.29 (MPE). We are running
7.29 and are anticipating no problems with 2/29/2000. Even though it
is not "officially" (insert legaleez) "certified Y2K compliant" in all
ways, as along as you don't want the features of 8.19, it is fine for
     2/29/2000.

We ran tests on some of the old versions (of course). Generally here's what
we found regarding Feb 29, 2000. Note that this is based on what testing we
did and may not cover all old versions or all problems (insert appropriate
legal clauses here - i.e. no guarantees). However I have not heard of any
other Feb 29, 2000 issues and customer tests have verified that these seem
to exist on all older versions. These results assume that the Operating
System runs after Dec 31, 1999 and returns Feb 29, 2000 on Feb 29, 2000.

PowerHouse on MPE/V, MPE/iX and UNIX return an invalid date on Feb 29, 2000.

So if you try and use SYSDATE, you'll get a data conversion or data
expression error. Other dates during the year are returned correctly.

PowerHouse on OpenVMS and AS/400 return Mar 1, 2000 on Feb 29, 2000
depending on the settings for DEFAULT CENTURY and CENTURY INCLUDED|EXCLUDED.

Every day thereafter is 1 day off until Dec 31 when Dec 32 is returned and
gives an error.

PowerHouse on DG AOS/VS will not run after Dec 31, 1999. Patches are
available for the 6.05 release and RBFs. With these patches, the system date

Feb 29, 2000 is picked up correctly.

Hope this helps.

I assume that most poeple had the sense to upgrade their software to Y2K
certified versions before the end of the last century. I was wondering has
anyone performed any testing for February 29th on versions of PowerHouse or
operating systems that have not been certified Y2K by the vendor. For
example prior no longer supported versions of PowerHouse running on an old
VAX or a scenario similiar to this. If so does anyone know of any older
versions in general or versions running on a non Y2K maching that could
possibly have glitches around February 29th?
