When you "run/detach <program>" you get a very restricted environment (no DCL,
no symbols, etc etc).

What you probably want (for a more-or-less normal batch-like environment) is:

$ run/detach sys$system:loginout/input=myproc.com ...

myproc.com is a normal DCL com procedure, and can run Quiz, QTP, or batch
Quick.
