I don't know what your standard user interface is, but you might do something
with using the bottom screen as entry screen, putting the mode/action line on
line 23.
I imagine that the display screen will not produce any messages (other than
perhaps that nothing is found, but you could suppress that), so the only
messages that will occurs will go to line '48' (being 24 on the bottom screen)
