ManMan PH Dictionary

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but MANMAN/DEC product is based upon a
non-relational Oracle CODASYL network database (formerly known as Digital
DBMS32) which is not supported by any OpenVMS version of PowerHouse.
The only way that I know of to directly access the MANMAN/DEC database using
PowerHouse would be to use PowerHouse on Windows NT or Windows 2000 and use
the Attunity Connect product (formerly ISG Navigator), which I believe is
already used by a number of MANMAN/DEC sites. This product provides ODBC
connectivity to Oracle CODASYL databases (amongst others). Details of the
Attunity products can be found on their new web site, at www.attunity.com.
If you are only looking for a reporting and analysis solution, then an
alternative might be to contact Envy Systems (www.envysys.com) of San Jose,
CA. They have a product that can replicate Oracle CODASYL datasets into a
relational database on your OpenVMS system -- such as Oracle Rdb or Oracle
8i. Once you have the data in this format then any of the Cognos products
will be able to work on it -- PowerHouse natively on the OpenVMS server, or
any of our BI products (such as our data mart builder, DecisionStream,
www.cognos.com/decisionstream) from a UNIX server or Windows server or
desktop.
Hope this helps.
Best regards,
Conrad

We are running ManMan on an VAX 4xxxx machine. We have the POWERHOUSE
products,
but there's no dictionary for the ManMan database. I remember an ITOQ
utility
that reads IMAGE databases and creates dictionary source code....GREAT
TOOL!....Is there an equivalent for the VAX? If not, where can I get a
dictionary for ManMan version 9.2.1?
