Gee, I guess I just have a different definition of "productive" than most
people. I'm speaking from my own experience. As I mentioned previously, I
knew nothing of Cognos or PowerHouse when I started this job. I was given a
desk, a set of PH manuals, and a one-week (5 days, and we all know that at
these 5-day seminars, Monday morning and Friday afternoon are a waste) Intro
to PH class. There are no other PH programmers here. The one I replaced
was long gone when I started. The PH applications had been languishing and
were in dire need of attention. I had a little time to read manuals before
I attended the class, which pulled together what I had been reading. When I
returned from the class, I jumped in with both feet.
I will readily admit that it took a couple of years to become truly
comfortable, and I still refer to the manuals on a regular basis. But to
say that I was not productive, even within the first week or so after the
class, would be ridiculous. I didn't have the luxury NOT to be productive.
I was it, and still am the only PH resource here.
So when I said a matter of days (a few weeks tops) I meant it!

If what you say is true, why are any of us here?
