Boris,
I don't have access to my machine but it sounds like the second command is
resetting the first. Try putting everything in one command

SET SUBFILE NAME XXXXXXXX AT SORT-ELEMENT

I don't think it should work this way but it is way to test.

Subject: QUIZ on HP MPE/iX question about SUBTOTAL in SUBFILE

I'm trying to come up with a count of records meeting certain criteria at a
particular SORT break.

I'm using the example on page 526 of the PowerHouse for MPE/iX QUIZ
Reference (version 7.29)as a template.

If I don't NAME the SUBFILE, everything seems to work fine; but if I try to
NAME the SUBFILE, then all the records meeting the criteria are place into
the SUBFILE.

In other words the SET SUBFILE AT SORT-ELEMENT seems to be ignored when I
also use the SET SUBFILE NAME XXXXXXXX option.

Is it something I'm doing wrong, or is this the correct action for QUIZ?????
