Dynamic Subfile naming

I'm sure someone can better this, but here's an idea:
Do a prepass where you determine which subfiles are needed and write out the
appropriate subfile statements to a NODICT subfile. This file gets USEd in
the second pass.
You would read your file, sort on the item you want to subfile on (to
Subfile - any noun can be verbed), and then write out the statements AT
item.
The format of the statement is something like:
SUBFILE SUB<name> KEEP IF item = <name> INCLUDE file
This should be easy to put together by concatenation.

Subject: Dynamic Subfile naming
Happy Thursday, fellow listers....
I'd appreciate some assistance on the following:
I'm reading thru a detail set, and I'm sorting and setting my subfile on the
User-ID. I'm getting values like <USER1>, <USER2>, etc...
Can someone out there divulge the secret whereby I can dynamically create
and name the subfiles AT the User-ID break (subfile USER1 contains just
User-ID's=<USER1>, subfile USER2 bla bla bla y'all get the idea!)
In your debt for all eternity or 1/1/00, whichever comes 1st!
PS - Go Yankees (from a suicidal Mets fan!)
