Axiant cost?

Hmm...if you are thinking of deploying as a fat-client application
(with all of the processing logic on the desktop PC, as well as the
user interface) and you only want QUIZ then there might be an
alternative. This is assuming that you want to get to your database
through the native PowerHouse support (for Oracle, Sybase, etc.) or
use an ODBC driver to get to some non-relational data such as an
IMAGE database or RMS files.

We have just made available PowerHouse 4GL 8.21 for Windows NT. While
it is intended to be used for developing and testing PowerHouse Web
applications (or for use as an application server for Axiant thin-
client client/server apps), it can also be used as a straightforward
PowerHouse environment (apart from the fact that there is no QUICK
on NT to run your terminal-based screen programs).

QUIZ under Windows NT basically just runs in a DOS box, and looks
and feels just like QUIZ on any server platform (as does QTP).
QDESIGN is also there, along with PDL and QUTIL...but, as I said
above, no QUICK. PowerHouse on NT supports all of the usual
relational databases found in PowerHouse on other platforms, along
with MS SQL Server and ODBC.

There isn't a reporting-only license for PowerHouse on NT, since (as
mentioned above it is really intended for PowerHouse Web development
or as a server for Axiant development and deployment), and so you
would in effect be buying full-development PowerHouse for each PC.
Expect to be asked for around $750 per PC for PowerHouse full
development...and they would need to be Windows NT, not 95 or 98.
There are quantity discounts available, but as I'm not in the office
I can say what they are (and I can't remember them off hand).

Its just an option.

Best regards,
Conrad

Not really. Our user base is already experienced in Quiz.
IIRC Impromptu is not as powerful as quiz, subfiles, etc?
If I'm wrong, maybe it would be a good alternative, I think
it's cheaper.
