Possibly, but I think that they may have been easier in IB3.3 because the
triggers are not as flexible as in Oracle. And as you alluded to, Oracle only
requires hardware to perform. Interbase has many limitations as to total
thru-put, especially in version 3.3, regardless of hardware.

Also don't forget the rollback segment size in Oracle. Updating several
thousand rows may fill the rollback segment -- unless you've got a good DBA
that talks to your programmers.
Finally, IB3.3 leaves you with your pants around your ankles, if you'll pardon
the expression. Two #%$@@#^$ days before our conversion to Oracle, our IB
database took a major dump. Major enough that we lost nearly a days' worth of
data and uptime. With the way we've setup Oracle, it would take a cataclysmic
event for us to lose data. Major enough that we probably wouldn't be around to
know our data was gone...
O.K., just one more thing: You pay for what you get.
