Cognos license daemon hung

Environment 710G1/2, Alpha VMS 7.1, DECnet IV.

Our cognosd_Flexlm process hung (LEF), and refused to talk to anyone.
People trying to invoke Powerhouse (any component) hung for a while before
getting a message to the effect that their attempt to talk to the license
daemon had timed out.

After 20 minutes of this, I killed the daemon with $FORCEX, killing all
current PH users, and restarted PH. All now appears OK.

There's no indication of a problem in COGNOSDA.LOG, or anywhere else I can see.
The daemon had been running 30.5 days without problems, and appeared to have
ample available resources when it was stuck. ANAL/SYS showed a busy network
device, but nothing else of interest.

Any ideas / suggestions ?
