If you run out, further attempts to connect fail.
There's also a known problem with over 50 users: sometimes the daemon hangs up,
and the only recovery method I know of is to kill the daemon (thereby killing
all existing PH users) and restart it. I personally have only seen it once, but
others have claimed more frequent problems. The workarounds:
1. Shut down & restart the daemon regularly - thought to alleviate the problem.
2. Get a temporary evaluation licence (unlimited - doesn't use flexlm).
Tracking usage: you can do with lmstat, as you plan.
I've a com procedure (below) which I use to churn through the flexlm log to
find peak usage: this obviously only works when you're using flexlm.
Types of licences: we've got RT_reporting (65) & development (5).
RT_reporting covers all compiled code (quick, quiz, qtp), and a very trivial
subset of interpreted code (exec, and not much more - see the manual). If
your code base isn't compiled, you may need to do that.
I'd suggest you see about an evaluation licence, to cover yourself temporarily
in case you either find you haven't enough licences & need to buy more, or run
into the bug I mentioned above.
