Firstly let me apologise to the members of this forum who are not based in
North America, as it does not have a direct effect on you. Please humour me
as I attempt to share a vision with your North American colleges.

Secondly I need to introduce myself to those who do not already know me, my
name is Nick Falkingham and I am the ADT North American Regional Services
Manager. I am based in the Cognos Chicago office but travel across the US
and Canada, I first joined Cognos back in 1987 and have been an avid
PowerHouse user for many years now. 

The North American ADT Services group was recently re-formed due to the
continued requests of many of our ADT customers, in an effort to re-focus
and respond to the needs of our PowerHouse and Axiant customers. This is the
focus of this message, and the following text is a brief outline of our
objectives. 

The Cognos Application Development Tools Services Group

Our belief is that the keys to organisational effectiveness comes from
understanding the clients needs in both business and technical requirements.
Whilst the majority of new business with Cognos is from the BI tools, there
is still a thriving business from the founders of this company, the
Application Development Tools (ADT) customers.  Consultancy in these areas
is very different and thus the creation of the ADT Services Group.

The ADT Services Group is now free to focus exclusively on our ADT
customers, giving them Education, Consultancy and Pre Sales Support. Using a
base of highly qualified and experienced staff we are able to provide
exactly the right technical and analytical consultancy. Therefore, we will
deliver four key services to our customers: 

1. Education - 
The continued commitment of Cognos to provide training in PowerHouse, Quiz
for Users, Axiant, PowerHouse WEB, Relational Interface and Design for our
ADT customers. 

2. Professional Services - 
Bringing our expertise to customers in the areas of application design and
business and organisational development. It has been made quite apparent
with new license purchases and Year 2000 conversions that our existing
PowerHouse base is strong and has every intention of moving forward into the
next century. Add to this the new versions of Axiant and the availability of
PowerHouse Web. The group will continue to provide professional services
within the existing and expanding ADT arena.
 
3. Networking - 
Linking appropriate resources, our own or Cognos partners, to help customers
improve their existing applications or develop new ones. Further our
relationships with the Cognos ADT partners is an important part of our
business.

4. Publication - 
Creating published material in various media (PowerFacts / SupportLink /
User Conferences) to continue to provide new and useful information to the
ADT community.  

Our experience in the fields of application PowerHouse and Axiant, design,
business analysis and training give us the skills and knowledge needed to
put our beliefs into action and to deliver our four key services. We are
committed to this group and it's success, If you have any suggestions on how
Cognos can improve the quality of the ADT services please contact me outside
of the list server.

Above all we must keep to our overall mission of making our customers
successful and that means a continuing and increasing emphasis on serving
and responding to our customers.
