Hello Chris,

"so I guess the whole exercise was an essential business investment in new
skills, rather than necessarily a justifiable project in its own right. There
may even have been pressure to stop actively selling PH client, and get with the
Axiant program." ?

Not quite correct Neil, yes it was good to gain valuable Axiant skills
moving forward, especially as most companies are looking for GUI solutions. No,
there was no pressure to 'stop actively selling Powerhouse Client and get with
the Axiant program', just think about it, we have a application which is
essentially written in Powerhouse, the Client wants to move this application to
a 32-bit environment and possibly move databases from Interbase to NT SqlServer.

What better way than to migrate the software into a product that handles the
32-bit environment, already uses powerhouse code and also has the option to go
to SqlServer sometime in the near future. The other option would be to perform
a complete re-write in another product, which I suspect would have taken 3 times
as long to complete and more man hours to test in parallel and once complete, if
the product has been designed differently, re-training of all your staff. This
way we have moved fairly smoothly to a 32-bit environment with little trouble to
the users. I could give you a whole boat load of reasons why we chose this
route but I think I've bored you enough
